Digging up history

We are on the verge of one of the most exciting developments for decades if not centuries. Since I first took an interest in the history of Moira I have wondered what has been hidden below the surface of Moira demesne. Last year’s extremely dry weather gave a tantalising glimpse of possible foundations. I was told then that a geophysical survey was being considered and now we learn that it has produced exciting areas of interest.

To quote from the website of The Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum website   “These may correspond to the walls of the 18th-century castle and out-house and, of great interest, possibly a mid-17th century castle.” How exciting is that? Watch this space.
